The EICAR anti-virus test file is a non-virus that is
detected as a virus by most anti-virus software. EICAR
contains no virus code, it is simply an MS-DOS executable that
prints:
EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE
on the screen when it is run. Below is a link that will
allow you to download EICAR from the EICAR website. However,
if you are using the CIPAFilter as a proxy or transparent
proxy you should not be able to download this file, as it will
be detected as a virus. Attempting to download the file is a
great way to confirm that your CIPAFilter is installed
properly. As the download fails, you should see an entry on
the anti-virus log page. If you wish to test your workstation
client, you can paste the following text into a file named
EICAR.COM and it will be detected as the EICAR Test Virus when
you try to run it.
